يَجْمَعُ كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ يَنْفُثُ فِيهِمَا فَيَقْرَأُ فِيهِمَا:
بسم الله الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ * اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ* لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ* وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُواً أَحَدٌ﴾.
بسم الله الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ* مِن شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ* وَمِن شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ* وَمِن شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ* وَمِن شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ﴾.
بسم الله الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ ﴿قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ* مَلِكِ النَّاسِ* إِلَهِ النَّاسِ* مِن شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ* الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ* مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَ النَّاسِ﴾
ثُمَّ يَمْسَحُ بِهِمَا مَا اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْ جَسَدِهِ يَبْدَأُ بِهِمَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَوَجْهِهِ وَمَا أَقبَلَ مِنْ جَسَدِهِ
It was narrated that 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Every night, when the Prophet (peace be upon him) went to his bed, he would cup his hands together, blow into them, and recite into them: 'In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Self-Sufficient Master, upon Whom all depend. He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none equal or comparable to Him' (Al-Ikhlas, 112); 'In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak, from the evil of what He has created, and from the evil of the darkening night as it comes with its darkness, and from the evil of those who blow upon knots, and from the evil of the envier when he envies' (Al-Falaq, 113); 'In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind, from the evil of the whisperer who withdraws, who whispers in the breasts of mankind, of jinn and men' (An-Nas, 114). Then he would wipe with them over as much of his body as he could reach, beginning with his head, his face, and the front of his body. He would do this three times.

اللَّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ لاَ تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلاَ نَوْمٌ لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِنْدَهُ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِهِ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلاَ يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلاَّ بِمَا شَاء وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَلاَ يَؤُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ
Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ كُلٌّ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلآئِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ لاَ نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِّن رُّسُلِهِ وَقَالُواْ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ* لاَ يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْساً إِلاَّ وُسْعَهَا لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا اكْتَسَبَتْ رَبَّنَا لاَ تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِن نَّسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا رَبَّنَا وَلاَ تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْراً كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا رَبَّنَا وَلاَ تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لاَ طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَآ أَنتَ مَوْلاَنَا فَانصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ
The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His messengers." And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination." Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."

بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي, وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ, فَإِن أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فارْحَمْهَا, وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا, بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
In Your Name, my Lord, I lay myself down, and by Your leave I raise myself up. If You take my soul, then have mercy upon it, and if You release it, then protect it with that by which You protect Your righteous servants.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ خَلَقْتَ نَفْسِي وَأَنْتَ تَوَفَّاهَا, لَكَ مَمَاتُهَا وَمَحْياهَا, إِنْ أَحْيَيْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا, وَإِنْ أَمَتَّهَا فَاغْفِرْ لَهَا. اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ العَافِيَةَ
O Allah, verily You have created my soul and You shall take its life; to You belong its death and its life. If You give it life, then protect it, and if You cause it to die, then forgive it. O Allah, verily I ask You for well-being.

اللَّهُمَّ قِنِي عَذَابَكَ يَوْمَ تَبْعَثُ عِبَادَكَ
O Allah, save me from Your punishment on the Day You resurrect Your servants.

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ (ثلاثاً وثلاثين) و الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ (ثلاثاً وثلاثين) وَ اللَّهُ أَكْبَر (أربعاً وثلاثين)
It is narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to 'Ali and Fatimah: 'Shall I not direct you to something better for you than a servant? When you go to your bed, say: Allah is the Most Great (Allahu Akbar) thirty-four times, and Glory is to Allah (Subhan Allah) and Praise is to Allah (Al-hamdu lillah) thirty-three times each.'

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ السَّمَوَاتِ السَّبْعِ وَرَبَّ الأَرْضِ, وَرَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ, رَبَّنَا وَرَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ, فَالِقَ الْحَبِّ وَالنَّوَى, وَمُنْزِلَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ, وَالْفُرْقَانِ, أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ أَنْتَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهِ. اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الأَوَّلُ فَلَيْسَ قَبْلَكَ شَيْءٌ, وَأَنْتَ الآخِرُ فَلَيسَ بَعْدَكَ شَيْءٌ, وَأَنْتَ الظَّاهِرُ فَلَيْسَ فَوْقَكَ شَيْءٌ, وَأَنْتَ الْبَاطِنُ فَلَيْسَ دُونَكَ شَيْءٌ, اقْضِ عَنَّا الدَّيْنَ وَأَغْنِنَا مِنَ الْفَقْرِ
O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Magnificent Throne, our Lord and the Lord of all things, Cleaver of the grain and the date-stone, Revealer of the Tawrah (Torah), the Injil (Gospel), and the Furqan (Criterion, the Qur'an), I seek refuge in You from the evil of every thing whose forelock You hold. O Allah, You are the First, so there is nothing before You; and You are the Last, so there is nothing after You; and You are the Most High, so there is nothing above You; and You are the Most Near, so there is nothing nearer than You. Settle our debt for us and spare us from poverty.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا, وَكَفَانَا, وَآوَانَا, فَكَمْ مِمَّنْ لاَ كَافِيَ لَهُ وَلاَ مُؤْوِيَ
Praise is to Allah, Who has fed us and given us drink, sufficed us, and given us shelter; for how many are there who have none to suffice them and none to give them shelter.

اللَّهُمَّ عَالِمَ الغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَاطِرَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ, رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ, أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ, أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي, وَمِنْ شَرِّ الشَّيْطانِ وَشِرْكِهِ, وَأَنْ أَقْتَرِفَ عَلَى نَفْسِي سُوءاً, أَوْ أَجُرَّهُ إِلَى مُسْلِمٍ
(O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Creator of the heavens and the Earth, Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except You. I take refuge in You from the evil of my soul and from the evil and shirk of the devil, and from committing wrong against my soul or bringing such upon another Muslim.)(shirk: to associate others with Allah in those things which are specific to Him. This can occur in (1) belief, e.g. to believe that other than Allah has the power to benefit or harm, (2) speech, e.g. to swear by other than Allah and (3) action, e.g. to bow or prostrate to other than Allah.)

يَقْرَأُ ﴿الم﴾ تَنْزِيلَ السَّجْدَةِ, وَ(تَبَارَكَ الَّذي بِيَدِهِ الْمُلْكُ)
It is recommended to recite Surah As-Sajdah (Alif Lam Mim, The Prostration, 32) and Surah Al-Mulk (Tabarakalladhi biyadihil-mulk, The Dominion, 67).

اللَّهُمَّ أَسْلَمْتُ نَفْسِي إِلَيْكَ, وَفَوَّضْتُ أَمْرِي إِلَيْكَ, وَوَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِي إِلَيْكَ, وَأَلْجَأْتُ ظَهْرِي إِلَيْكَ, رَغْبَةً وَرَهْبَةً إِلَيْكَ, لاَ مَلْجَأَ وَلاَ مَنْجَا مِنْكَ إِلاَّ إِلَيْكَ, آمَنْتُ بِكِتَابِكَ الَّذِي أَنْزَلْتَ, وَبِنَبِيِّكَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلْتَ
It is narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'When you go to your bed, perform ablution (wudu') as you would for prayer, then lie down on your right side and say: O Allah, I submit myself to You, I entrust my affair to You, I turn my face to You, and I rely on You for protection, out of hope in You and fear of You. There is no refuge and no escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.'
